there it is:

Prior versions of the logo helped build Starbucks into one of the world's best recognized brands, and the company felt it no longer needed to reinforce its name at every turn. The new wordless logo also is better suited to the company's expansion beyond coffee into a wider array of business lines and into more international markets.

50 or so years ago (well before my time) you'd get a cup of coffee for a nickel. it's fascinating to see how an empire was built with coffee, and with prices that inflation hasn't even caught up with yet, at that!

I think starbucks was also subliminally advertised in tv sitcoms where tv actors would bring up starbucks. A new form of advertising.

i worked at a starbuck in the early college days. we worked out that the store cost for an average cup, including employee time and building rent was about $0.60 and the average cup sold for $4.

that new logo leaves an over roasted, stale, burnt taste in my mouth.

Here ya go Miguex, find the product placement here (it's in the first couple seconds), and it's definitely not subliminal :)
