I did half of my sr project back in college printing onto tracing paper.
the best is 32# UV Ultra. Digitally printing works great.

what kind of printing?

You can print on to acetate like you would use on an old school projector. Tracing paper is quite waxy and so the inks will just run most of the time. Same as if you used felt tip on tracing paper most of the ink would come off on your hands.

You can buy rolls of tracing paper for HP DesignJet Plotters .. I'm sure other printers have similar types of paper.

McNaughtons / Antalis do a paper range called Curious Translucents, they're pretty much tracing paper but better for printing on. I only have the old swatch book to hand and that says litho is fine, but Im sure they have a digital friendly version too.
I'd say GF Smith also do a print friendly Translucent stock too, but Im not sure what it is.
Point is, yes you can print on it, though nothing using too much ink as the paper just would be able to hold it.

translucent vellum... i have a swatchbook at home... email me if you want the exact name... if this is a commercial job, then yes, there are things you need to know... dry times etc... the above-mentioned yupo is great, but (unless there's something new that i'm not aware of) you can't run their sheets through a desktop printer... and definitely not through a laser printer (it will melt the filament... i did this... not fun).
