funny because there's a thousand other guys out there who sound just like that and can't get any work... but they're not homeless former drug addicts. He's gotta get work now.

It's ironic that voiceover/radio actors are a dime a dozen nowadays, all struggling to make a living with their voice. Most of them are probably more qualified than this guy. But likely, this homeless dude will end up getting his 15 minutes and plus some.
It's kind of like Susan Boyle from a couple years ago. Actually not the greatest voice by any professional singing standards, but got her fame because of her slovenly appearance. Meanwhile, thousands of aspiring singers who have just as much talent and more training never even making it onto a professional stage.
And so now this man, who does seem to have honorably regained control of his life (or is it his golden voice that has me believing his words?), will end up with paid TV appearances talking with Al Roker on the Today Show and Ellen. And who knows, he may actually end up getting a gig.
This just proves that people just love a comeback/underdog story. It just gets proven time and time again. But a starving artist who's been at it their whole life, and gets nowhere? Not so much.
- plus the novelty of a homeless guy who sounds like a radio announcer is cash money!Dodecahedron
- Wait, this isn't a comeback story is it. Sorry. It's more like people just being fascinated with irony.randommail

Dodecahedron, you're right, but everyone loves a good rags to riches story. He seems genuine and people want others like that to succeed - nothing wrong with it.
Besides, he's going to be taking the jobs that everyone else out there would probably snub their nose at.
- I never said it was wrong, I'm his biggest fanDodecahedron

Second Chance of the Day: Ted Williams, the homeless man with the “golden radio voice” made his on-air debut today courtesy of Dave & Jimmy and WNCI 97.9. “I’m Susan Boyle for a day... or Justin Bieber,” Williams said, as his mellifluous timbre reverberated across The Discovery City.
And the job offers have been pouring in: WBNS-TV asked Williams to narrate promotional spots for its “One Day to End Homelessness” telethon; the Ohio Credit Union League presented him with $10,000 in exchange for voice-over work; and the Cleveland Cavaliers offered the Brooklyn native a full-time job and a free house.
“The Cleveland Cavaliers just offered me a full-time job and a house! A house! A house!,” Williams exclaimed. And the Internet saw that it was good, and rested.
