how far back do your emails go?

yeah I need to look into backing them up.
I just realised that with Hotmail, I can only go so far back... a whole bunch has just been fucking deleted!
...and because I didn't log into my yahoo for 6 months, (actually no I did log in, just didn't send any) they deleted all my fucking mails! 2 years of payslips gone. gee thanks yahoo!

i back mine up every month or so- i dont delete them, but just back them up and store them remotely... just in case.

I let Outlook autoarchive my emails every 6 months. Still there and searchable, but a new file (currently each email folder is about 7 gbs).
I don't use gmail or yahoo for my professional accounts. I do not like to rely on someone else to hold everything. Clearly they both have done a good job of remaining reliable, but who's going to be held accountable if 'oh, sorry sir, did your last 6 years of emails vanish?'
