thought i'd start a thread as a little tribute to those, like me, are currently not getting home for christmas. 2 flights over 2 days cancelled and counting....
And just thanking my luckies that i'm not one of the poor saps sleeping under tin foil at gatwick.

I have every ability to get home for christmas but won't be. I'm stuck in limbo due to my partner being stuck overseas without a visa and a huge pile of work to be done in the next 3 weeks. Our agency is not closing over the christmas/new years period for the first time ever...! So it will be just another typical weekend for me lol. I'm not a big christmas person anyway ..so I'll take a month off in february when she is back *fingers crossed* :)
Thinking to go to NZ or maybe Tasmania...

My girlfriend was suposed to come to New York yesterday to see me for the holidays, then we had planned to fly to mexico on christmas day. Now her flight has been cancelled and re-booked for thursday, but if that is cancelled I'm a bit fucked. Paid way over the odds for accommodation and I'm not sure they could offer a refund.
All this, plus flights = losing around $2500. Nice one.

Fucking BAA are a pile of shite. They really are a bunch of useless cunts - heathrow is a total disgrace, especially given that it's many people's first experience of the UK. They're the first to boast how it's the world's busiest airport and how important it is and then have the temerity to suggest there isn't the need to have proper snow/ice clearance facilties to keep it open.
We should close the place and build the thames estuary airport (maybe not in that order) and get in people who know how to run an airport properly, not just treat it like a shopping mall.
Fuck BAA and all who work there. Cunts.

Not that it helps but got lucky last night landed in Gatwick late, had to sit on the plane for 3 and a half hours whilst waiting for a disembarkment spot, another 3 hours to get the bags... with no info all the way, but at least I got back.
Anyway, really hope it works out for you.
