Haven't they fired the team already and now try to backpedal?

Move to Pinboard.in
It's nice and simple. You can mirror your posts at Delicious if you want to maintain an account at both places.
Get it now. The price has already gone up from the large amount of Delicious users signing up.Diijo bookmarks take around 48 hours to move over. Seems decent too, and it's free.

"Is Delicious being shut down? And should I be worried about my data?- No, we are not shutting down Delicious. While we have determined that there is not a strategic fit at Yahoo!, we believe there is a ideal home for Delicious outside of the company where it can be resourced to the level where it can be competitive."

This is what happend when we rely on free services, they can close the shop anytime and we're fucked. Just imagine if Google close all its services tomorrow... we have so much on their servers.

so this whole episode has sent everyone into a panic, but now possibly crisis averted, they're not shutting down. but why the hell would any of you continue to use the service, or contemplate moving it under anyone else's control, if this stuff is so important to you? have you not learned a lesson here? keep your data under your own control, don't trust some service to do it for you!

I have my bookmarks saved all the time. I suppose I could start my own site and have things tagged. Like that Tiddlywiki CMS that is a Wiki + CMS. And has tagging. But I think I'll stick with Pinboard for now. I was so caught up with Delicious (and used to it) that I didn't even think about the other options.
Imagine if FFFFound or Flickr went down?
