My parents have a Philips plasma and I think the picture is average. Plus they've had some other problems with it like screen going green for no reason...I'm not a fan.

on a helpful note, we had a 40" tv that got some weird artifacts on the left side of the screen. only after 2 years. Id say no to philips tvs.
i know little of tvs, so pinch of salt -
Go with Sony bravias first of all (they are among the best mainstream tvs)
Samsung are good too.- as in really bad artifacts, like a massive heat burn or something.Hombre_Lobo_2
- the sony one must had cost more.akrok

are you looking for redonculous high-def or a middle of the road tv you can play video games and watch hd-tv on? i have two samsungs and i love 'em. 55" dlp and a 42" lcd. both are fantastic. i also have a 42" vizio and i'll be honest, looks wise it doesn't compare but the picture is dang close to the 42" samsung, and it was a couple hundred dollars less in price. my next main tv will be a samsung, but if either of the other two ever go out it will be a vizio. they've really come a long way.

My grandfather used to work at Philips. Our whole family owned Philips TVs and they literally lasted decades.
I own a Philips LCD tv now, though. I ain't to happy about it's usability.

when i was a kid, the 1st tv the fam got was a philips. about 25 years ago- we thought it was good then. so, if you're looking for about a 13" tube tv with faux wood finish around 3 sides, i give it an A+
