Bad Vegas Trip

So I go to this obnoxious club where where my party and I (myself and 4 girls) were given passes to get in 'free'. Well, we were there to celebrate a birthday of one of the girls, so tipping the bouncer $100 to get in and THEN having to pay a $40 cover for myself was worth it... I honestly have no idea why people like these places, but whatever..
Anyway, we get in and the girls make a b-line for the balcony behind a roped off area reserved for parties with table service to get a view of the stage where the action was going on. A man-ish female bouncer informed me I was not allowed in that area, and quite frankly, I was ok with that as long as my girlfriend could move freely between that area and where I was, which she did for the short time we were there.
Well, on one of her return trips to meet up with her friends, she was told she could not join her friends and the female bouncer proceeded to put her hands on her and try to physically move her. Naturally, my gf, pushed her hands off and asked one of the people who had table service to explain she was allowed in that area, which they did. Not good enough. A second bouncer, a large man, immediately came over and asked why my gf had 'assulted' the female bouncer and told her she needed to leave. My gf claimed innocence and then we both attempted to leave the building. Once we arrived at the front of the building and were about to exit, we were physically blocked by security who said we could not leave and informed us the female bouncer wanted to press charges.
Things are getting pretty intense now. There's a lot of adreneline flowing and all of a sudded we've got about 8 hotel security guards surrounding us and essentially forcing us to go with them to the 'holding cell'. I insisted they allow us to call the police, but they said they already had and that they would be meeting us there. I reluctantly agreed to comply providing they no longer use physical force and we were then taken down several long corridors beyond non public facing hotel facilities and underground parking structures into a small cell where we were questioned, had pictures taken and were eventually informed the female bouncer had decided to not press charges. They then told us we were being accused of tresspassing and that we were not allowed to step foot on the premises again, and were escorted out.
Just curious what you all think about this and how you would act on it. I've never been in a similar situation, but a lot of my friends believe we can sue over illegal detainment, assult, and possibly more. We're in the process of looking for an attorney to get some legal advice, but I thought I'd see what others would do.

I would have gone physical on their asses, good thing you didn't.
Now you can sue, DO IT!

Btw, the guy in the holding cell who informed us of our tresspassing charge had a badge, but wasn't in uniform, so I don't know who he was or whether he was a real cop or just a hotel employee.
We clearly made a lot of mistakes along the way here not demanding an attorney, or the police or asking the right questions or making the right demands, but it all happened very fast and at the time, just wanted to get the hell out of there. Since our heads have cleared, we realize in spite of our civil rights blunders, we might still have a legal leg to stand on and defend ourselves, at the very least on the matter of principal. A settlement would be nice, but right now, there are more important reasons for us to take action.
- What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas. Let it go. How much will you waste on legal fees?ETM
- CALLES0
so you paid around 200$ to go to a holding cell?
- fooler20
that sucks but just let it go and tell all your friends not to go there again.

Not sure what all you can do. They detained you wrongfully, but you did agree to go with them. In my opinion, it comes down to the fact that the place to invoke your rights would have been at the door when you were attempting to leave, as you said you wished you'd done.
Unless they kept you in the cell for several hours, waiting to talk to security / the police, I don't think you have much legal ground to stand on.

^ even with physical assult? an attorney could subpoena their surveillance tapes for proof that we were physically held against our will.
- ifeltdave0
@PatrickBateman: They could subpoena for the footage, yes.
While I understand that the legal definition of "assault" could be applied here, I really don't see (from the story anyways) how you or your g/f were actually assaulted. The bouncer did put her hands on your g/f, but that is what they're paid to do. It might be different if they shoved her down, or physically carried you out of the place, etc
Also take into account that the bouncer who started the situation was likely unaware of the whole scene. I'm sure in that profession, they look at everyone as a drunk, careless, potentially out of control threat to the bar.
I'm on your side in that the security staff was wrong in how they handled the situation, but I'm trying to look at it from a legal perspective. Just doesn't seem like the proof is there to warrant a case.
Was your g/f injured? Are either of you emotionally scarred? What damage was caused to you by the incident? Those are the questions the courts will ask.

That shit right there is why I dont really go to Vegas anymore. I have been there 6 or 7 times and that sort of shady bullshit happened a few times. There are much better places to drop your money.
- CALLES0
and then I go to vegas. I win money. get 50% off tickets for the beatles show and pick up a girl from the rhino that is coming to visit me in 3 weeks =)

ifeltdave, thanks, that's some good perspective. it's really hard to put into words how it felt, but there was definitely some emotional trauma on my gf's part, as well as for me since i couldn't physically defend her while she was being handled by these men.
you could see these guys just salivating at the situation. they could essentially do what they wanted and if i made one wrong move, even in her defense, i'd be screwed.
ever watch another guy put his hands on your girl like that?
- Don't know how I'd handle it. That would sure be tough.mg33

how i would have handled it:
• not clubbing in vegas
- Frosty_spl0
I wanted to go to Vegas on my 30th birthday in May, not anymore.
- ifeltdave0
I'm with you, my friend.. I would have been overwhelmed with emotion in the same situation, especially since you know that security loves these situations.
Best thing to do I think is write a very strongly worded letter to the hotel about how appalled you are from the situation, and that you will be damn certain you'll never be back at their hotel, club, casino ever again. Who knows, you might get some free chips or a comped room out of it haha. Complaining goes a long way.

are you really that hard up for money? your girlfriend basically f**ked with the wrong people.
1) You didn't say, but she probably had a few drinks too many before you guys got kicked out. She probably had a heart attack because one of the bouncers asked her to move. She probably caused a big scene, started acting loud, and didn't act appropriately, and now the she didn't get treated like the Queen of England ya'll wanna press charges? I bet the female on female domination on the dancefloor was too much for you guys to handle with a nice, "sorry or excuse me"
you on the other hand, was in it for the ride. You seemed to keep your calm, but it was your girl who couldn't handle herself. You're lucky she didn't get you into worse trouble. 8 security guards could have easily ripped you a new hole. But they let you go. and now you wanna press charges? Maybe they shoulda kicked your ass and had their ways with your girl instead. Be thankful for what you have....

beefed up mall cops. aaaaah, great. lol.
- Milan0

If nothing can be done legally, just briefly post your experience on Yelp and review websites.
You figure paying a bouncer $100 he/she would offer the hook up; You had to pay another $40? That's a lot.
I will say, and I have been witness that bouncers sometimes look for trouble on purpose, because they know their security crew has their back.
- $100 should've taken care of the bouncer issue though.kgvs72
