Psh. That story is soft. I prefer my bread to come from the hands of an ex meth-addict.

That place is super good you have no idea.

Their desserts are amazing.

Thats not California cliche that's just "bread people". They looove bread. I worked for panera (St. Louis Bread Co.) and went through their training program. I saw plenty of bread love videos much like this. So much bread love...

i've yet to meet anyone like that out here, so i wouldn't call them cliche. but as others have said, it's good to see someone who has a passion for something and is truly enjoying their life

The surfing bit was a little too much. And the according was intersting. I guess they needed to give it some character and differentiate it from other bread vids. True bread people are fanatics tho. I have a bread friend.

I have the same comment as most, that I don't see how people passionate about simple things like bread and surfing are cliché and ridiculous.
Also, like intrmntl said, that place is delicious. Really, really excellent. If this is looked-down upon and seen as being cliché californian, then I'd be surely disappointed to see what isn't "cliché breadmaking". A tour of the orowheat factory? sounds awesome.

The gay surfer baker.
That sounds like a good character for SNL!

How about a fucking thread for cliche Københavnere? You toss pot.
This gets a nod for most closed-minded, sheltered thread of the year.

@cerberus Yeah, i probably fit in with the cliché Københavner :D
Hey - please don't get me wrong, i probably agree with 99% ofl their values, and share all their ideas of the good life. And in the current "cultural climate", maybe we all need to return to (or reintegrate) some of the "simple things" (like the satisfaction you get from a simple craft, like making bread). And I'm very attracted to his simple surf'n'bake lifestyle.
But then there is the smugfactor. Like the guy in the video (the baker) is just not a good actor. Look at the first sentence. He knows he's bullshitting. It's bread. Not life-transforming art. Gah! The whole thing is just very pretetious. When she "affectionally refers" to the yeast (or whatever) as "her lover". You seem very nice but shUT UP!
Again, their place looks amazing, the bread looks delicious, i would probably eat there. And occasionally cringe.

um, i think we're all forgetting about the best bread to come out of california...
- kld0
pretty sure railing on california is more cliche than some guy baking bread.

I actually bought that book for my wife for xmas after watching that video.
I look forward to making some bread with her and becoming a "Cliché Oregonian".
