Typeface: from MAC to PC

I was emailed a true type font from a mac computer but cannot load it on my pc.. (true type works for both, right?)
I tried changing the extension but no luck..
any ideas?

open font book and reveal it in the finder. if the extension is ttf you will be able to bring it over to a pc, if it doesn't have an extension, you will need to convert it using something like transtype.
mac's store font information in a weird way, if your file is 0kb, you probably grabbed the resource fork of the font, not the actual font (there might be 2 files for your font on a mac).

I use typetool to open and save out mac fonts for PC. some ttf fonts simply won't work on a PC as detailed above.

alot of times with fonts the data is stored in the datafork. use something like crossfont to merge them. if its the 0kb .ttf then you know the info is in a datafork
