If you like French food check out http://uk.opentable.com/la-garri…
Go for a walk up Arthur's Seat for the view...
Some nice restaurants by the seafront in Leith, watch out for junkies on Leith Walk though ;)

wife and i were there for a few days back in 07 - we went to a little cafe that seemed to be under the sidewalk on Dundas street - it was terrible. so- just avoid that one- i dont know it's name, so you'll have to use your instincts. you probably wont realize you're there intill you've already ordered.
everywhere else was great though. enjoy

There's a nice little gallery on Victoria St/West Bow called The Red Door Gallery. I picked up a few prints last time I was in Edinburgh, it's definitely worth a look while you're in/around the Castle area...

yeah Analogue is ace. Fruit Market is good. Mussel Pot makes the best mussels / chowder you'll ever eat. Saigon is a great Chinese restaurant.
If you haven't booked already Apex waterloo place is excellent.

http://www.hendersonsofedinburgh… is a nice well-established veggie restaurant.
Portobello is a great seaside place .. there's an old Victorian swimming baths there too, with steam rooms.
Botanic gardens are good if yr into that kind of thing (http://www.rbge.org.uk/the-gard... .. think it's free too.
Lots of nice galleries and museums that are worth checking out. Loads of great places - you'll have a super time.
