Painstakingly animated by hand, the care that went into Akira can be seen in every frame, each bursting with an unfathomable range of colour. There’s 327 shades in the film, 50 of which were invented for it.
That's crazy. How do you 'invent a color', let alone 50?? (Apologies if this has been discussed in this thread already)

actually just rewatched Akira last night.. a friend of mine hired a cinema and had a private screening of it and had created a dj mix (wasnt live) to replace the audio.. with subtitles you still got the dialogue but set to burial, square pusher and an assortment of other things..
was actually pretty dope, especially as he had timed it all so drops in songs and big changes matched perfectly..
he had little snack bags and everything..
