I thought last night's episode was fantastic. I believe that in storytelling it's important to take the time that's necessary to really develop a character arc. If we had half an episode of Daryl and Beth having their coming out moments, and another half with some other part of the group, the magic of Daryl's revelations would have been lost in the cross-over between settings.
I think they did a great job last night, far superior to the other episodes we've seen since the return. I personally was glad to finally understand Daryl's character more. I think we all sort of knew there was something off about him, but now we know he wasn't a criminal, he was just a nobody, and that's why his character has developed as slowly as it has.
That said, it's about time they picked up the pace in general though. Walking Dead is starting to show elements of LOST, where story arcs drag out for very long. The governor is dead, the good guys are broken up, so now it's time to bring them all back together and get on with it.
I can't imagine what it must be like to write a show like this where you have fans chomping at the bit for progression, but the network telling you to slow it down and milk that ad revenue.
- the problem for me is I have no emotional attachment to any character .. if they die oh wellRamanisky2

The last few episodes have been the best of the recent seasons. No more Rick Speeches™, no more anonymous crowd of survivors doing nothing to survive, no more momentum-killing prison. Just characters in twos and threes surviving in a world that's showing us how other people have fared (or didn't) in the background (the gang that wakes Rick, the golf club full of dead refugees, the signs of Terminus, etc).
This is what the show does best.

yep, the last 2 / 3 episodes are the best of the season so far.

I kept thinking they were gonna hook up after getting smashed on moonshine, playing "I've never" all alone in that cabin.
- I had the same creepy fear. That girl is about what, 14?CyBrainX
- yeah, but she was kinda forward, no? getting him drunk, getting personal, saying she wants to do something stupid?monospaced
- er... something "she regrets" while drunk. I'm surprised he didn't do something, actually.monospaced
- I agree, in real life they would have hooked up. Just human nature in such a stressful situationukit2
- The actress is 28, but the character is 16 or 17, whichever is legal in Georgia (AV Club readers did the research).i_monk
- IMDB says she graduated university in 2006. She must be at least 29. 6 months ago she seemed 14!?HAYZ1LLLA

I like these more episodic approach where they focus on a smaller number of people. But the acting in the last episode was embarrassing.

A modern day soap opera.

This was the game that bombed and everyone hated. It was supposed to show Daryl and Merl's story, of which the latest episode was Daryl's acceptance moment from what happened since this game's story where he shoots his Dad etc.I think the writers expected the game to do well and that people would have appreciated the last episode more. Shame they used one of the worst companies to program and develop it. The other game however is fucking amazing.

Didn't mind the pace, enjoyed the realness of the episode.
Who else was hoping they would bone? lol
- I thought she was gonna make a move. But they haven't showered in months, and are covered in sweat and zombie gutsmonospaced
- zombie guts. That would be some messed up sex.monospaced
- extra hot lol, probably no different than most of human history._niko
- I thought she was making a move on him toomoldero
- They'll probably hook up at some point. Hopefully they get a chance to bathe in a stream or something.monospaced

So, we have a little girl, never drank alcohol in her life, drinks a jar of Moonshine and makes no reactionary face after any gulp, doesn't act drunk in any way after... I didn't buy it at all. Moonshine is no joke. She'd have been an a puddle of her own vomit after an hour of that.
- And Daryl got drunk faster than she did.i_monk
- haha so trueRamanisky2
- and the flame would have burned blue but who's counting._niko
- she didn't even cough or make a face, that bitch is hardmoldero
- I have never seen anyone take down that much moonshine and not be slobbering blackout drunkmonospaced
- So that particular hill folk made shitty moonshine, I guess.ETM

nobody says "I need a drink." before they've actually had one
- <_niko
- not true. She was mimicing things she's heard. It was forbidden and so she wants it. She wants to escape her pre-zombie constraintslocustsloth
- pre-zombie constraints and world. To be someone new. Just like Darryl. it's what the whole episode was aboutlocustsloth
- maybe, but I don't think i would ever say I "need" some crack_niko

Wow. The whole time I was thinking it had to be done. But then when they were actually going to do it, I kept thinking, there has to be another way.
