Does it not seem suspicious wikileak would admit that there was only one source?
- not really, because no one ever suggested otherwiseabettertomorrow
- and wasn't the whole point of this that a single source was more believable?abettertomorrow
- no single source is not believable thats my point.Dodecahedron

haha, too true. And weren't some of the Wikileaks cables describing how the U.S. gov lobbied for Visa and Mastercard in Russia, as well as for Boeing against Airbus?

I think some people refuse to believe the world is a much less centralized place than they think...there is no secret cabal running things, just a bunch of interrelated interests.
- no one is talking like that thoughDodecahedron
- I think it's implicit in most conspiracy theories...things couldn't possibly happen by chance and chaos and must be a plot of some kindabettertomorrow
- a plot of some kind. And sometimes this is true. But more often things are just a clusterfuck.abettertomorrow
- they are very small, multiple non-localized plots working in collusionDodecahedron

We were doing a campaign that had to be cleared by said agencies. It's not rocket science.

If you think wiki is inline w the government, that's fine, but to me and my experience, it seems like the opposite and these corporations are doing their hardest to shut them up. For the most wiki hasn't said anything new, but for the bits that they have, they're being severely punished for it. That's all.

Are you guys aware that Proctor and Gamble send their product designers that are racially compatible to third world countries to interview the local people from house to house to figure out their buying motivations. My ex girlfriend, a product development lead did that so that they can sell diapers to countries like Vietnam so they PG can maximize global profits. This is an extremely intelligent girl that loves the country yet is used by PG as a entry point to sell disposable diapers to a country that doesn't believe in it. This is just one facet in PG. It's not a conspiracy, it's just modus operandi.
- I had no idea until last year.instrmntl
- what really are you saying though?Dodecahedron
- I sympathize and am relatively aware of such situations but am not sure of your intentionDodecahedron

People are saying that it's a government conspiracy and that wiki is in line with the government. My point is that corporations are much larger than the government, and that the government tend to be corporate liasons for their goal, which is globalization and in turn maximum profit. Wiki seems to be a thorn in this, not an aid.
- Again, we're all QBNrs and just talking, but this is my opinion and I hope that I've backed it up. No offense to anyone.instrmntl
- but the counter theory is that the wikileaks controversy will help facilitate all sorts of new legal and political agendasDodecahedron
- like net neutrality, like international espionage lawsDodecahedron
- rather... anti-net neutralityDodecahedron
- I hope so. My bad, I thought you were saying wiki was a government conspiracy.instrmntl
- well it is being implied, in that it would help the government pass self serving lawsDodecahedron
- you get it but I personally don't have any grand theories. there are nuances to the situationDodecahedron
- WIki is giving the cable companies a slight of hand to change net neutrality i think.instrmntl
- exactlyDodecahedron
- instrmntl0
In my opinion, wiki has nothing to do with net neutrality. Time Warner, Comcast etc are in a fight with Netflix etc in the fight to dominate the transition from cable to internet. Netflix pioneered the transition, and now these media companies are fighting to gain relevance. It's parallel to the music industry.
- Dodecahedron0
net neutrality is not simply about entertainment its about information in all its possibilities just ask google. if the internet had no neutrality there would be no wikileaks.
- great point.instrmntl
- BD cheers .Dodecahedron
- I think you can get carried away connecting NN to politics - NN isn't the same as censoring sites.abettertomorrow
- Stuff like the internet blacklist they have in Australia, thats not NN, just good old fashioned censorship.abettertomorrow

The sad thing is that even when wiki comes out with the bank leaks, it will embarrass the industry for a week, and then it will be business as usual. I really hope I'm wrong.
- I really hope something changes, I mean sensible intelligent modern change and stuffDodecahedron
- agreed.instrmntl
- instrmntl0
It funny because I was thinking about wiki this morning, because I'm really eager to read about the bank releases. After some thought, I assumed they're quiet now because they're (NY Times, The Guardian, etc) going though the process of fine combing thru the documents with their legal team before they release them. I really hope as well that the next release will be a game changer.

Instead of saying "i heard" or some shit like that can the skeptics here just go ahead and spend next 2 hours actually reading of what the wikileaks actually leaked (The Guardian is a great source)? This is not some small intel that anyone can obtain - those are dozens (if not hundreds) of instances documenting international games of politics, corruption, deal making at the expense of weak, large companies using our resources (politicians) to make profit. Of course the dumb fucks who only talk about the over-heard-stuff will say "but everone already knew that". No! Everyone suspected that, but no one actually had a proof. Now we do.

Mass rioting in the USA would only lead to the same result as in Tunisia...
"Shortly before leaving office, Ben Ali declared a state of emergency, and THE ARMY HAS NOW TAKEN OVER CONTROL of security from the police, Bloomberg reports. Public gatherings of more than three people have been banned, and security forces have been AUTHORIZED TO GUN DOWN anyone who violates the order."

A former Swiss banker was on Monday due to hand over files to WikiLeaks which he alleges detail attempts by wealthy business leaders and lawmakers to evade tax payments.
Rudolf Elmer, a former employee of Swiss-based Bank Julius Baer, told Britain's Observer newspaper on Sunday that the documents include details of about 2,000 accounts held in offshore financial centers. He says the account holders include "high net worth" celebrities, business leaders and lawmakers from the U.S., Britain and Asia.
- Doesn't announcing to the world you are about to leak stuff to wikileaks defeat the entire purpose ?Dodecahedron
