Hey peeps!
So, I might visit LA later this month and need suggestions on MUSTS.
It'll be a very short visit, but want to make sure I do/see as much as I can. And yes, including touristy places please? :)
Thanks!!!

In Venice may I suggest the water or the boardwalk, other than that, have a bite at Zelda's on the boardwalk. great breakfast sandwiches. you'll probably eat at a dozen places before you ever find it though, lots of great food there.
You can check out this cool building
on the way to Abbott Kinney where you can shop, socialize, and really see the diversity without so many homeless people (compared to the boardwalk). Then there's always Santa Monica and the Promenade. But I really suggest you set aside a few hours and simply drive up PCH past Malibu. That is so damn relaxing.

Still in Venice, all food
Hama Sushi - expensive and delicious
Intelligensia Coffe - praised but I don't drink coffee
Brickhouse Cafe - average breakfast place (note: there is nothing special about this place, it just reminds me of my grandpa's (R.I.P.) old restaurant in Kansas) I ate here a lot.
and
The Skate park on the beach, if you're not witnessing a pro mingling with the locals, you're being overly impressed by a little kid, boy or girl, shredding.

There's pier in Santa Monica, don't know if you're aware of it. ;) but apparently it is now the official end of Route 66. Plenty of touristy things to do there like ride a Ferris Wheel and have your face painted or what not.
