I am on the fence on going back to school to get my bachelor's degree. I got my Assoc. in Computer graphic and did the Continuing Ed. courses at SVA. Been doing graphic for 8yr. since.
- Will it make a pay check difference. Will a master do more...
- Personal achievement meter isnt jumping for it, but might set a good example for my youth.
- I can graduate in something - i finally - know I will do after graduating.::Cons::
homework
late night studying/reading
$$$$$what are your thoughts....

i agree jimbo- found my uni portfolio the other day, 6 months on a single logo- and it's awful! love to go back just to enjoy the work from the other side.
my wife wanted to go back and get a higher degree, but in the end she decided that the payback wouldn't be worth the time. realworld experience is the best.

3% difference in pay checks judging by what Lisa said in Sundays Simpson episode.
http://www.iwatchsimpsonsonline.…Go for it. Not for the paycheck, but keeping the youth in line.

I didn't even have a portfolio when I left, just a load of scruffy sheets of cartridge paper. Awful! Learnt more in the first 6 months out of uni than I did in the 3 years I was there!
But would love to go back and be able to do it all over, take full advantage of it... and all the things that go with uni life... AGAIN.

Design? Won't make a single difference in your paycheck as far as I'm concerned. Your portfolio talks.

You and I are in the same boat.
I plan on going back eventually, more for personal reasons - just something I want to get done.

Try for a scholarship. Then you can go for free or close to free, get the degree, not be poor, and do actual work on the side after class?

I'm with Kult and Duckseason. The portfolio gets you the fancy job/high roller job. The degree is mostly personal satisifaction. I also learned tons from the first job. Design school didn't teach me much. never worked on FTP, learning file structure, organization, PS masking/ channels tricks, retouching & keyboard shortcuts.
Design schools should have internship every semester REQUIRED, along with class reinforcement.

The only real reason I could understand going back for a master's would be if you wanted to teach.
When I graduated my degree held some water. Now - like others have said - it's more about your portfolio than anything.
Unfortunately just about any asshole these days can get a degree in graphic design. Not every asshole has a nice portfolio and the experience to back it up.

Unlike a wife a degree lasts a lifetime
