So I have just watched what I think is the best film in 2010, named Monsters. And get this the man who directed the Movie done it on £15000. It turn out he works as an effect graphic guy for the BBC. It hard to describe what this bloke has produced for the money but it a bloody good effort if you ask me. I thought he had a Hollywood budget of a couple of million to do the film. Anyway just take the time to see the movie, you will not be disappointed, and I think the story behind the movie is just as interesting.

Looks good. Saw the trailer a while back. But I'll have to wait for NetFlix. Don't get too many indie movies my way.

    • Just me mate, it's bloody great.pillhead
    • Bloody hell I sound like a sale man, hahapillhead
    • you can get it on iTunes, and VoD, and xBox.dopepope

I saw the film the other night. It's slow, but very well done. I really liked it. I was surprised at how interested I was in what was going on even tho there's very little of the monsters in the movie. The effects are great for something done on 15000 budget and in a cs5 package. Very original take on the giant monster genre. I'd love to see more.

    • sometimes the best thing is not knowing. Cloverfield ruled for that reason.mg33

I thought it was pretty mediocre. The "monsters" are barely in it so the focus is really on the relationship between the two main characters. Which is fine in theory but in this case there simply wasn't much chemistry/ acting ability there.

The girl just kind of mumbled her way through and the guy came off as slightly creepy. I guess it didn't help that he was played by the actor who portrayed the mental patient on "Prison Break."

    • I can see your points. I guess I'm a seasoned Giant Monster Genre fan having watched Godzilla all my lifedopepope
    • Don't get me wrong, it was a decent first film for 15k, but a looong way from best of the year.ukit
    • and with that comes the ability to not give two shits about the characters, and just admire the monstersdopepope
    • I think I liked how they kept the illusion there were these things all over without showing them much.dopepope

Thanks for this, pillhead - I'm at once elated and despondent.

It really is amazing what can be done with home PCs - makes me slightly sick to think how little I've ever played with 3D animation and motion widgetry.

I think the film has a moral question on life in general and the monsters just happen to be part of the story to reinforce that idea. But anyone who can get off there ass and make a movie like this for £15000 gets my respect. Amazing effort.

    • I'm in favor of the approach, but what WAS the point of it? I thought it needed better actors to get that across.ukit
