I was told by a douche eye doctor dude that I can never drive. It is the first time I've heard this. I am half blind in my left eye from brain surgery. I got upset beyond what I thought my reaction would be when my brother got his permit. He could not and still won't stop talking about how great it is. He'll remind my mom the mistakes she makes on the road. Now, it seems I am a total black sheep. I'm a stick in the mud.

I can't drive either. It sucks cuz I don't have the $50,000 to shell out for a BMW. But one day, I think my situation will get better and I will be able to afford that BMW.

you can still get a license with one good eye. google it.
i also have come across a few people in my life that have had one glass eye and they've been able to drive fine.

I feel your pain. I had my drivers license revoked for 16 years. I was in an 11 car pile up accident. The car that was in front of me was a new York state trooper. The accident was not my fault or the officers but his car was totaled. I had to goto court and the judge said that even though the accident wasn't my fault the fact that it was a state vehicle they The State needed to make an example out of me and took away my license for 2 terms. 16 years.
- That was in 1991e-pill
- that is EXTREMELY excessive. what. the. fuck. so what if it's a state vehicle???iCanHasQBN

I'm legally blind in my right eye, got shot with a bb gun when I was 13. Its funny, the first time they tested my vision at the dmv they make you tell them what signs you see in that little machine and I asked, "what signs?" I've always gotten a license no problem though.

Driving isn't all it's cracked up to be. I personally loathe it. It's exciting to drive at first, because it makes you feel like big boy, but the luster wears off pretty quickly. Sitting in traffic, just idling inside of a cage-with-wheels makes people fucking nuts.
Soon I'll be living in a place where I won't need a car, and I can't wait. And this is coming from a person who used to be obsessed with cars.
It's an archaic, dirty, dangerous form of transporting your body from one place to another.
Sucks though if you live in a city where getting around in a car is your only option. There has to be a way around it... I have a friend who wears an eyepatch and he still drives.
- I will steal your girlfriend with my M3 =PFrosty_spl
- i wouldn't want a girlfriend who cares about the kind of car i drive. how shallow. you can have her.iCanHasQBN

That thread is weird.

Find a new doctor and get a license. There are plenty of people that still drive that are nearly blind in BOTH eyes. Or move to SF or NY, as iCanHasQBN said, driving sucks, it's expensive, and it's frustrating. You can say you're not doing it anymore because you are reducing your carbon footprint, which means you just get the ladies to come pick you up in their SUVs. Downside: less road head.

I agree with sikma, be happy for what you have. I gave away my car years ago, and have a friend who is 30 with a kid and still doesn't have a license. My wife doesn't have one either... it's not bad if you live in a city with good transportation. The harder part is having the decision made *for you, versus making the decision yourself. It sucks, but it's not the end of the world :)
