for something you can't properly calibrate it sure is.
- Why can't it be properly calibratepillhead
- Of course it can be properly calibrated. Why make such assumptions, stewart?monospaced

why does no one invent retina display glasses. No monitor needed, just put the specs on and away you go? iSpecs.

- ...it's the buckles across the chest that make that outfit, frankly. All about the details.luckyorphan

In the US it's MUCH more competitively priced at $1,000. Comparing it to other displays in this category it's not THAT bad, actually.
- I can't even find another 27" LED with this resolution at this price. The Apple also comes with a built-in camera and speakers.monospaced
- speakers. I hate to say it, but I think the Apple is actually a really great deal.monospaced
- The Dell u2711 has the same screen element as the 27" Macs. Same retail price, but you can get them much cheaper.DoTheMacarena
- Except it has no built-in camera OR a 50 watt speaker system.monospaced

@ DoTheMacarena
The Dell u2711 is 27", and it's got the same resolution, but it is an LCD panel, not an LED like the Cinema Display. I still think the Apple monitor is a better deal.

@ Mono,
I actually heard that there were some complaints about a yellow cast with the LED as opposed to the LCD, but I have no idea how accurate that complaint is. I have a u2711 myself and am extremely happy with it's performance. However, I do completely agree that the Apple monitor is nicely priced for the quality/features, and I have no doubt that it performs beautifully.
I just wanted to throw it out there that a nice monitor with similar components can be had for <$800 (new on ebay) as well, as It's always been hard for me to find any price breaks on Apple items. The U2711 also has a USB uplink and a billion inputs, although no camera or speakers. Life is so hard sometimes.

I had a dual 19" monitors set up. They are not the same brand and are not identical in size. My neck started to hurt a bit so I am using just one now.
I was thinking of getting a 27".
Do you think a 24" will be enough to do design?
Any thoughts, experiences? Thanks
- is 24" enough? what are you on now?akrokdesign
- hah. two 19's. i seeakrokdesign
- i think, if you want to go solo. go 27"akrokdesign
- if you want two, go 24". maybe start with one, then get the other one later.akrokdesign
- i am on solo 24'.akrokdesign
- And do you want to go up to a 27"? Or get another 24"? I think a prefer to go with one. The two 19"s made my neck a bit sore I thinknumero1
- think. Cheers!numero1

I think 24" is fine, can never argue with more screen space but 24" plus 22" is what I got now and seems to work great.
Of course I guess the ideal would be to have two Cinema Displays but not making the investment right now:) At my last job they bought me some Dell monitors that went for around a grand, can't remember the exact model, but to be honest they just don't offer the same experience.
