New Bike / A bit off road

Looking at bikes again...
This is what I'm looking for, not too sure what's good these days so any suggestions will help.
Commuting with the option of going through a forrest if I fancy it [we live near woods], and maybe the beach.
I had a fixie and while I don't mind the one gear thing and quite liked the fixed wheel thing it's not great for the beach / woods. I have a small Moulton but again that can't take jumping off curbs etc. Just after a get-around that I can have a bit of fun on too. Been looking at Cannondale Badboys.

To me its the best of both. It also saw action in my first Triathlon.

yeah I'm leaning towards these I think, the Montare looks ace too though I'm not sure it's much better than the Utopia. The 2011 Utopia is no longer black either, they chaved it up!
