Sorry I can't get past the killer combover.
- scarabin0
i like how it's a self-contained interview, but i closed it after i saw that he used random internet jpegs in the portfolio section instead of showing his work. that brought it down a bit for me

Something a mate of mine who's a Toastmaster just pointed out to me, though, is that his body language is all wrong. The fact he's sitting isn't good, and apparently steepling one's arms like that and having crossed hands in front of one's face can be interpreted as being defensive and dishonest, as well as lacking purpose and energy.
Apparently, to have made a proper impact, this guy should have been upright and more animated, to convey a confident, take-charge attitude.
Good insight, IMO.

He needs to bic that comb over.

I read faster than that thing loads.
Stick with a paper doc or pdf.

i like the track suit and ball cap, i think that means he is down with the streets and da homies and can do a 187 in the butthole

I watched it again, and now it's my turn to nit-pick.
Visually, the composition's off. The supers in the intro don't have enough room to breathe, relative to his placement in frame.
Secondly, there's a black hole to his left, because of the light coming from camera left is throwing bad shadow.
Thirdly, the guitar's got to go; his head, specs/glass of water and old-school phone form a triangle, and the guitar kills the flow of the shape (as well as being in the cast shadow).
Still, I like that he had the balls to do this.

Kind of like this but not as good. That's quite an accent too.

I bet this will get more views that an emailed or passed around resume/CV. Could've been done better, but a good idea.
- tbh i liked the idea but i got bored after the 2nd click. but i dont have patience i guessWeLoveNoise
- WLN: Agreed he could have trimmed it down in length. Make it more like an elevator pitch, maybe.Continuity
- fuckin lol.
touch'e!!!!WeLoveNoise

nice idea, video above demonstrates attention to detail while other dudes needs to rid of the combover. It's a little cringy watching him talk to camera. Props for trying though.

I'd say the fact his vid is being shared to a wider audience (in this case, QBN) shows he's got the PR chops. I found it on one of my LinkedIn contacts' status, and he found it from a re-Tweet. In this sense, the guy's gone viral, so I'd say mission accomplished.
- but is "views/hits" all what he wants?!akrok
- views / hits will get him to stand out, I think he'll get hired in under a week, or at least good offersMiguex
- The thing is, views and hits will facilitate this now-viral CV to fall into the hands of interested parties.Continuity
- So, if that's the KPI or key success criterion, I agree with Miguex's outcome.Continuity
- "I mean, does your guy have a youtube portfolio?"

you guys are all shutting this guy down just because he is doing something different. I think its a great way to stand out, yeah the work might be lame (I haven't seen it) but like WeLoveNoise says, I can totally see clients going nuts over this.
-"hey Richard, come check this out, this is my guy, he has a video portfolio, does your's have that?"
-"no, he doesn't".
-"well, let me introduce you to my guy then, you'll love him, I mean check it out, ain't that clever or what? I'm so going to be the next facebook!
That, word by word, is EXACTLY what clients are going to say about the guy, even if he sucks.
You can still have a portfolio in pdf/ doc format, but we all do that.
