I play on serato and 1200s. There are some people in my city that ONLY play on a laptop and one of those lame tractor controllers. They have never touched vinyl in their lives. I feel sorry for them.

Being bothered about HOW it's done is so 90's. Shit tunes will always be shit tunes.
I started on vinyl, went to CD, went to Ableton, and back to CD, now I do my mixes on ableton and play live on serrato and CD.
I love ableton because I can do a mix on a plane, or anywhere for that matter, and it keeps me occupied.
You can still fuck up a mix even though it's perfectly beat matched, just by playing terrible music.

I would like to make a mixtape with some of my favorite tracks to share with friends, but with a nice fade in, samples, fade out and beat mixing rather than just burning an iTunes playlist. What program should I use? (im not a dj)
- Ableton would work just fine in that regards. Plus, there's millions of youtube videos to help train you.thoughtandtheory
