I've lived in the following places:
New West: Terrible.
Burnaby: A depressing suburb.
Point Grey: A bit remote if you don't have a car, but quiet and serene while not being too far from amenities.
West End: Very nice, relaxed, close to everything, lots of affordable apartments, close to the beaches.
Railtown: Loved it, great if you going for drinks on the reg and don't need to be too close to a supermarket.
Robson: My favourite, a walkable distance from everything so you barely have to even use transit.

Prophetone - It could very well be lovely, but I lived there when I was 20 on a grimey street and it was just shit all around. Boring & crime-ridden. But I'm sure there are nice parts.
