It's okay if you like that kind of thing.

Print is not going to ever disappear. Good print at least.
It's the crap, cheap, mass volume, junk, direct mail stuff that is now being done as emails and web banners. So less print specific jobs, but no great loss.
It's going full circle. Companies are now investing again in decent print as a means to stand out from the barrage of shit that other companies fill your inbox with. Print has the benefit of being tactile in an increasingly desensitised world.

I agree 100% with Ranger.
Outside of stylistic considerations, and more about function, I've seen a rise in print design that is inspired by design for web or mobile devices. When done well, it provides interesting new ways for presenting content. When done poorly, it's gimmicky at best and confusing at worst.
On the style front, I'm seeing tons of stuff that's inspired by Nicholas Felton and Monocle Magazine. The irony with both of these examples is that each is heavily influenced by mid-century modernism (Monocle especially).

print is so far from dead it's not funny. Sure there has been some consolidation in recent years, but if Direct Mail alone is still 35% of the marketing budget then it will be here for a long time to come.
It's the middle of the market that has suffered the most. Both low end cheap crap and high end quality with finishing seem reasonably strong.

depends what you're talking about, but personally, if I look at places like ffffound, designspiration, graphic exchange, etc, I'd say it's a pretty sad state of affairs... but I don't look at those places much, really the only design that I look at online is at http://www.septemberindustry.co.… and for the most part, I find the work confident, mature, inspiring and reassuring that the state of commercial graphic design is ok...
