A new treatment that destroys HIV-infected human cells without damaging healthy ones has been developed by a team of Israeli researchers.

^haha
send me a copy! I think it's just a bit joking, no hate.
Having a couple if friends who work in pharmacuticals, I can tell you that the difference in a drug being created by researchers and that drug being available to the public is worlds and decades apart.
Which raises another issue of the powerful pharmacutical corporations only developing and producing drugs that are in their financial interests regardless of curing a disease or not. Or more topically creating a fake disease to create a drug for, which makes lots of a cash for them.
- yes, the money's on treating symptoms, not complete cures, sadlyernexbcn

And don't get me started on gene patenting.
Did you know that university of Los Angeles owns 20% of the genes found in every human on the planet. You can patent any gene that has not yet been patented. And If I own a gene, for instances the hepatitis B gene, I can charge people what ever I like who wish to experiment with it. Copywriting human cells purely to make money, how bullshit is that.
And we have the American legal system to thank for such a horrible state of affairs. For passing the law accidentally and then enforcing it.
I just hope other countries don't accept this rubbish.

^ The law has not been enforced.
In a recent test case bio-tech firm lost its patents for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes - used in the screening for breast cancer.
The District Court said "products of nature can not be patented".
It was the first time the validity of gene-patents had been established in the US.
However, the case has gone to appeal, and will likely hit the Supreme Court before a final ruling - the omens for "gene patenting" do not look good for the bio-tech firms.
It is the nature of the US/UK adversarial style litigation sytem that first need you need test cases before the law in these "grey" areas can be clarified - before going into litigation.
Of course the US Patent and Trademark Office will grant patents for virtually anything until/unless they are opposed or overturned in court, but this is explicitly happening in many cases of "gene patenting" around the world.
We await the verdict of the appeals court on the Myriad test case.

Khurram! thanks for the update :)
i looked into about over a year ago and from what i saw it was going to be absolute, seems its a changed a lot since then!
infact i remember reading something about the breast cancer screening, the gene owner wanted to put extortionate charges on scans if i remember rightly.
im pleased the courts appear against it, lets see what happens. cheers dude :)
