Anyone have any experience in using live text with typefaces that do not come with the ipad by default?
What are the technical aspects?
What are the legal aspects of distributing apps with fonts included?
thanks

it's not as easy as it looks .. and causes loads of issues in the end.. it saves you heaps and heaps of time not including a font and just choosing from the standard range that's included.

Thanks – up until now that is what I've done.
The issue is that the (know-it-all) client insists and the developer I work with has no experience with non-system fonts.
Any clues?

I'm a designer myself working very closely together with iOS developers to get the best out of the apps that we do, but we've had so much trouble with non system fonts, we mostly decide to go with the standard ones and otherwise use images occasionally (fuck can't believe i said that, because it's so wrong!!)
Can't give you any advice on the technical details, but I'd definitely research it and give it a go, if you find a solution that works performance wise and design wise, let me know!
- It's ok, there's nothing wrong in using images :)georgesIII

Thanks for the input so far.
The problem with using images is that I need the text to be dynamic (live).

This http://stackoverflow.com/questio… makes it sound quite straightforward. What issues did you have?
