I occasionally play on my iPhone, gave my old PSP away because I didn't have time to play it and I almost never carried it around with me. If I was to play a game like Red Dead Redemption, I will buy it for my Xbox360, as I did and played the hell out of it. What I like about playing on the iPhone is the wide array of games that are there to pass time. Yeah, it may be slicing fruit or Canabalt or Harbor Master which is in it's reality.. really fun. But there are also bigger games, racing, 3D, adventure, even GTA game.. you name it. I won't go into that because there really are approx 50.000 games in the App Store, or more. A lot of which are free.
So to conclude my opinion on the iPhone games. They are always with me, fit in my pocket and I can buy whatever game i want and download it on the road to my iPhone.
PSP is generally slower, has less memory, lower resolution screen. It has joypad but I don't think that's an advantage compared to the touch screen and accelerometer sported by the iPhone.
... Why I think this may be a desperate move from Sony is because they picked THAT game to make the iPhone look bad? That just makes Sony look bad because by now, we all know there are real games on the App Store.. not just Flash game knockoffs.

I'm with marcus.. Sony are just giving people a a swift wake up call!

Although personally i'm against all that portable shit in most case scenarios... Unless you traveling 20 hours a week plus... enjoy the world for a change FFS!

PSP is much better for games, but this campaign is seriously awful. I mean who wants to watch youtube video blogs in the first place, let alone a fake one made to sell something.
Want me to buy a PSP sony? Maybe try dropping the price a bit, I'm not gonna drop £130 on a dead console with only a few releases in the near future. That fact you are running scared from a phone rather than taking it head on confidently it worrying and makes the PSP look like a weak investment at this point.

funny ads, stupid fight.
seriously, sony need to both actually doing a proper upgrade to the PSP instead of just repackaging it every 2 years or so.. make the graphics better, make the games better/cheaper..
as for iphone games.. they are games on your phone.. what are you expecting, CoD?

5 years ago Sony was doing everything it could to distance itself from kids, leaving it to Nintendo. Now look where they are: tied for second place behind Nintendo, churning out clones of Mario Kart and other games featuring stuffed animal characters, and now they have a 12 year old spokesperson.

The iPhone is a great gaming platform and it seems odd no-one here takes it seriously in this respect... you guys are missing the point. Nintendo and Sony are definetly taking the Apple threat seriously. I have a PSP and I love it, especially Burn Out; but my iPhone gets more playtime than the PSP now... some of the games are pick up and play but others are fully fledged titles. Some examples to check out: Street Fighter, Sandstorm: an FPS and works brilliantly. Dark Nebula and DN2; beautifully made roller ball games. Broken Sword: the original masterpiece in all it's glory. Angry Birds: everyone know of this now, super addictive. Terminator. Amazing graphics and playability. Need for Speed Underground: as good as PSP easily.
No Dpad can be a pain but I don't see how Nintendo and Sony will stay ahead as long as iPod touch and iPhone is offering up games of a similar quality for a fraction of the price. Most under £5 and many under a quid. I'm no Apple fanboy but I see Apple really taking chunks out of the two handheld giants.

So.. to confirm my statement in the first post, PSP (Sony) is desperate and is losing battle. Why? Among other reasons.. It's because iPhone is more portable and it goes everywhere with you.
With gyroscope controls, retina display and all the powers of the App Store for both fostering creative games and getting them to the gamer at amazing prices, I truly see the iPhone 4 as the future of handheld gaming.
...
Industry gamers report:
The report, "The Phone Gaming Revolution: Do the DS and PSP Stand a Chance?," found that 43.8% of the phone/DS/PSP gaming market plays games on phones, which represents a significant 53.2% increase over the past year. At the same time, Interpret says that the proportion of those who play on the DS or PSP has fallen by 13%.Gamers Abandoning DS, PSP In Favor of Smartphones, says Interpret
http://www.industrygamers.com/ne…- PSP still has better games, touch controls just don't cut it beyond flash style games. (I own both and a DS BTW)PIZZA

"are you remotely suggesting that iPhone games have a chance to compete with PSP games?"
That's what everyone is arguing. And I'll just read/stay out of.
But fruit for thought: how does the moms/pops who buy their kids the tech see things before purchase?
They're both portable devices, you play games on them.
Speed and graphics aren't really that high up on the agenda. In other words the competition does not have to be in hardware here.
And with the possibility of contacting the kids with it (or...young adults, in qbns case) the iphone seems to me like a candid competitor.

But butt but,
you CANT use a PSP to make movies

i only have one problem with the psp - the size. i don't carry a man bag so anything that goes with me has to fit in my pocket. if they came out with a psp micro, i'd pick one up, but until then, i don't really do any mobile gaming... unless you consider trying to get from A to B in los angeles using google maps a game..
