Put form fields into a PDF
- d_rek0
spot13,
Yes, i've been playing around with that. However, you get very limited control over typography - specifically line height. I'm just wondering if there are other alternatives / better solutions than relying on form fields in a pdf...

Ah... I think Acrobat may be the right tool for the job! I figured out how to control line-spacing with rich-text formatting! phew!

@mono,

Create your form field. Stop editing it, select it then open up the properties.
In the 'options' tab select 'allow rich text formatting' - hit OK.
Now, go back to edit forms mode. Select any text in the form field and then goto View --> Toolbars --> Properties (or hit apple+e).
It should bring up a text formatting menu bar with more options. Then on the right side should be a 'more' button. Once in there select paragraph and adjust line spacing!
Yeah.. it's a bit of a process but glad I figured it out!

Are you able to allow for multiple line edits?
I remember Acrobat only allowing for 1-line at a time editing.

Get ready for all your editable areas to be Arial or Times New Roman or some shit that every PC has.
- If it's editable type in the PDF, I believe you can use any fontmonospaced
- No, unfortunately you cannot. Must be present on their system.duckofrubber

@duckofrubber - they've already purchased their corporate typefaces. No worries there.

Thanks. I've had mixed results creating editable PDFs. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but most of all it's a pain in the ass going through all the steps and the elusive check boxes, dialogue windows necessary to creating it correctly. Adobe has to make this easier.

@mono,
Yes... huge PIA. Here's something that makes it a little easier - to keep all of those toolbars up - right click any of them then select 'dock toolbars'. That should dock them all in the normal Acrobat toolbar so you don't have to hunt through context menus for them.
