I recently completed a multi-color stationery system. The design was of course approved by my client prior to printing. Then the stationery arrived, and people at the company supposedly started complaining. I was told that an undisclosed number of employees thought the “mismatched” color palette looked unprofessional, and that next time we needed to consider reprinting in a single color combo. I was told furthermore that if only one or two people complained, nothing would’ve been mentioned; but in this case they felt “compelled” to let me know. But then they didn’t say why.
So in other words, I’ve been asked to modify a corporate color palette because a handful of people have never seen multi-color stationery before.

- Update: the source of critique has been identified as one person, and though she'd like to be, she is not a stakeholder.gramme
- Apparently her husband is an in-house creative director for a competitor. She showed him the multi-color system, and he gave her the thumbs down.gramme
- gave her the thumbs down.gramme
- And she then took her critique + seasoned husband critique to the CEO.gramme
- She's probably the bosses mistressali
- Oh man... I'm tempted to say some horribly vile things about this woman. Tell me to have at it and I'll let loose a tirade.Gucci
- The thing that kills me is that this woman's husband is a designer. She should know better.gramme

Gramme - fuck that. Your work is inspiring and far from "unprofessional".

that's bs, gramme - your work is so refined and shines so brightly as a bastion of quality, that some nights as I look east over the ozarks, up 44, I can see the shimmering glow of quality and the faint dazzling rays of judicious typeface choice peppering the inky sky, as people drive past me in red F150s chewing skoal and repeating vaguely racist talking points off the radio on their way to get some ribs.
- + our satnav will only direct us to your house when in STL, so we have to turn it off.mikotondria3
- Haha. Thanks for the kind, if slightly hyperbolic words. :)gramme
- This is why you and I get along. It's not enough for us to merely describe things in plain terms. ;)gramme

Hahaha, you guys are awesome. I was feeling crappy about the above hassles this morning. The situation about their stationery is only one of at least five recent incidents that have left me flabbergasted, frustrated, and tired. But I feel a little better now. :)
