Feel free to timeline me - couldn't find anything terribly useful with the search.
Looking for a beginners lighting kit - something akin to this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr…
Looking to spend around $200 or less for two lamps w/ softboxes, a monolight and softcase if I can find one.
Can anyone recommend anything?

yeah, what raf said.
if you're going budget, do not buy the cheapo monolight kits - you're better off going strobist-style with some hotshoes and diy light modifiers. trust me - you will be far less frustrated down the line. i have done the cheap-light-kit thing and so have friends, and their restrictive nature (slow cycling, limited adjustability) is in no way worth the price premium you'll pay over getting a bunch of vivitar 285s and putting together your own kit. plus, you'll learn more if you do it strobist-style!

Well, maybe I had better state my intent.
I'm looking for something that I can use in a small, poorly lit room mainly for shooting personal / portfolio work. I have a decent table / drop-cloth setup I just need better lighting sources. I will not be taking the kit anywhere outside of this room and to be able to break the kit down and store it without too much a footprint would be a big plus for me. I am FAR from a professional photographer but I'm at the point where resources to professionally shoot my work are costly and/or unreliable.
I would simply like a basic setup so that when I have work that I would like to shoot then I can!

Also worth noting is that I will be using the setup with a canon DSLR (rebel xti) and the standard kit lens (18-55mm) and a macro lens. I would probably experiment a little w/ some other gear I have and my s90 just for shits and giggles. So again, something expensive and professional photographer level is probably not necessary for me.

d_rek - is the ceiling in that poorly-lit room white, or a light, not terribly saturated color?
perhaps all you need to do is buy a cheap shoemount flash and point it at the ceiling.

It's white cieling/light tan walls with. There is a window that some natural light comes through but usually close the shade the best that I can.
It's a shit setup but I can turn it into a nice little cave.

What's wrong the one you linked to in your first post? Sure it's probably not the best setup, but it's in your price range and will probably do whatever you need it to. if it doesn't work out for ya, return it and try something else.
