Looking to get one soon. Apple with education discount is the same as Dell Ultra Sharp pretty much. Would you still go with Dell?
I think Apple have new ones coming soon, so maybe an anti-glare option.

What are you using it for? Interactive? Print?

The Dell U2311H looks ok, anyone used that?

I've read/been told that the Apple monitors are difficult to calibrate because of the glossy/glass face. I would go with the Dell. My printer (who I would consider to be color experts) buys Dells. I bought a Lacie and an NEC IPS Panel display and calibrate them with a Spyder.

I've been told the Apple ones need v little / no calibration?
I've always calibrated by eye. I think Spyder is great etc but it seems to add another step - eyes are what will make the final judgement?- except that you can't calibrate your eye. and what you see changes according to your environment colour and brightness.pango

Nec Spectraview. From what I heard, even better than Eizos for critical color work.
