I have an old imac g4 and I can not transfer anything off it.
I have plugged in 5 different hardrives, plus usb keys. They all give me the error "not enough free space"
Trash is empty, hardrives have been formatted.
Anyone had this problem before? Thanks for the help.

is there any free space on the imac itself?

I have searching the net for this issue... I haven't found anyone with my exact problem.

connect it to another mac via firewire target disk mode.

the mac is pretty full... would that be an issue?
- could be... had that years ago on a G3 if I remember correctly.Amicus

it'll just mount the drive on another machine, you won't actually be booting off of the drive.

you should always leave at least 10gb of free space, more if you run apps that use lots of scratch.

Try and copy over a folder at a time. If that works, delete some the folder and repeat. Once you have enough free space it should work more smoothly.

Thanks, I will try this advice!
