Bloody hell, do we all know apart from me about 3d Paper Printing, I never heard of it before but the results are amazing.

Why do you say 3d 'paper' printing? I think this is plastic.
There's an Irish company that makes a paper deposition printer, but i don't think this is it.

- No it uses paper polder to build up layers to make the 3D object.pillhead

shit, I trully can't keep up with technology anymore,
this printer is amazing,

I got really excited about this tech a couple of years back, to the point where I was going to try and get one... economics aren't quite there yet - 8 hours for a model that size = $$$ to sell.
When It makes financial sense though, I *will* be getting one, oh yes.
- Good point, time scale is a problem. But the result are great.pillhead

Mind you, there's a company here in Blighty selling off the shelf geometric models that have been printed out by the cheapest deposition method, as lampshades, selling them for at least £350 a pop. Couldn't help but wryly question the salesperson at their trade booth when I saw it - she wasn't very happy with me.
THAT was a good business model. Bastards.

Some universities will sell you access to their machines - London Metropolitan has 'Metropolitan Works', where you can either go in and buy floor time or send them a model to print out.
Not super cheap yet, but a touch less than the £11k+ minimum otherwise required!
- do you know how much for small models? ballpark figures?lukus_W

I did a site for a engineer that invented a machine that print houses, I'm not shitting you,
It is pretty impressive

http://www.dinitech.it/- Oh wow, great project to be involved in - I've seen quite a lot of this guy - he's working with ESA now, right?detritus
- .. on trying to see whether they can apply this tech to building moonbases from moon dustdetritus
- That site really sholud have an English translation there - seems daft to limit his market.detritus
- He hooked up with norman foster for a dubai project, because all you need is sand and dubai has plentygeorgesIII

Is this a "look around you" episode?

So does anyone have any idea how much they would charge for printing a bottle or scull like that?

pretty fucking cool!

There is madder shit going on, near 3x3 size printing and nearly printed circuitry.

I think this process might be using 'liquid wood'. It's not plastic - but it's a viable (non oil) replacement that some German scientists came up with a while back.
Rapid prototyping is great - build your own printer: http://reprap.org
