Its time for a new phone, Iv'e got a nokia e71 which has been ok up until now. Can check emails on it and just about check train times etc on the net but the browsing is a little dated and not very compelling to use.
I'm a great fan of apple but not completely sold on an iphone right now.
What I need out of a new phone is to be able to pick up emails, check attachments etc. And browse the internet as best you can for 2010.
I'm not fussed about all the apps etc that iphone has to offer so could I go for something like a sony ericsson x10 or a HTC instead?
Basically I'm not up to scratch at all on phone technology and want to know if I can browse the web satisfactorily on anything other than the almighty iphone...
Any input much appreciated

I'm using an HTC desire at the moment .. it's great - bit worried about becoming dependent ..would be nice to be able to function without a phone that can plan my life. Android seems pretty good .. and is improving quickly.

I just got a 3Gs through the office and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

I like the HTC Hero, it does stuff with minimal fuss.

I always liked sony ericssons, not sure how they handle smart phones though. I think the decisions should probably be between an iphone and a htc. iphone gets my vote but I haven't used an htc :P

DO NOT BUY THE PIECE OF SHIT IPHONE 4G THAT IS MADE IN CHINESE SWEAT SHOTS BY CHILDREN AND DOES NOT WORK.

to utopian's comment above, well it does work, just not great.
if you're going to stop using products made in china then you may have to cease buying anything. seriously, you'd be hard pressed finding anything from electronics to clothing to furniture that isn't made in china these days.
the sweatshop comment is kinda hyperbole, i mean sure many kids work in these places but they have zero welfare or assistance so people start working at around 3 months old there.
in the words of stephen colbert "thank-you china, our happy meals are made possible by you".
