Do not want.

I don't think I'd mind the extra space if I could move bits and pieces where I wanted, in order of my preference.
As it is, the benefit of the removal of the left column is rendered redundant by, what is to me, an entirely useless right column.
And now I can see a Sport article, right there - mocking me from the bottom of the screen. I never really saw Sport on Auntie before! The one time I had an interest in something sporty, I realised I'd been shielded from it by a link buried down way deep - just as it Should be, along with the weather and other unimportant detritus.
So yeah - I don't think they've gone far enough to justify the new lick of paint, but what the hey, it's only tax money.

nope - I don't like it - feels old fashioned.
The Watch/Listen area on top right looks really dated.
Has very little synergy with the main BBC site.

I hate it when websites change so much they mess with my daily routine. The bar on the left was excellent.

I see now they've actually rolled it out, it doesn't look that close to the visuals. The typography is a mess, there are lots of apparently random spaces everywhere and it's really just not very well done by normal Beeb standards.
The feedback is almost unanimous as well, it's an epic fail. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theed…

Is it just me, or is there a lot less content above the line?
- there's no such thing as "the line"jamble
- I think the bottom of my monitor would disagree with you.detritus
- oh. fold. FOLD. F O L D.
Sorry, i didn't realise I'd said it wrong...detritus - you should bookmark this http://iampaddy.com/…jamble
- Sorry, I was talking about my personal opinion, and I do rely on the bulk of news content being Above Thedetritus
- Fold, or at least prefer - I get lost after about a ¾ turn of the mousewheel down.detritus
- Sorry, I'm not going to listen to someone who thinks this is good info design: http://iampaddy.com/…
detritus - There's a difference between consumption of a single article and browsing of multiple headlines.detritus
- and I'm not a believer in the nuFangled post-Editorial Twitterverse, DIY consumption.detritus
- Though perhaps I'm just showing my age..detritus
- You're right about his latest article being shit!jamble

I like it... But my opinion means nothing :(

Does the job. Still not as nice as the Guardian though.

I don't mind it, as such. It will just take a bit to get used to. I do like the nav on the top instead of the left, though.

Live now, and I have to say, not a huge fan.

VERY UNINSPIRING, BUT THEN AGAIN IT IS THE BBC.

It's different. I hate it already.

That's a good looking redesign, I like the removal of the left nav on news pages.

I think the new design is excellent. Just what a BBC news page should look like. Clean, user friendly and content rich. Didn't like the last redesign they did .. with all that focus on customization and a "lets show off how much ajax skillz we have" approach.

Read it, they haven't had a news section redesign since 2003. The rest of the site on the other hand wasn't updated too long ago.
- ckentish0
yep the news section is being redesigned not the main site.
the homepage often has updates and is not 2 years old.
