anyone running this with windows 7 and cs5 for windows? i'm thinking of switching over and running all my windows applications from parallels.

what is the reasoning for that?

get everything on one machine instead of two

Bootcamp, if you must.

what I don't get is why you don't use CS5 for OS X instead of running the Windows versions inside a VM under OS X

virtualbox is free and works well.
vmware is a living nightmare.
I think virtualisation is a great thing .. speed isn't too much of a problem.

if you're going to use windows on mac that way the only real solid solution is bootcamp with a partition. everything works as it's meant to, once you jump through the installation hoops and traps. any other 'virtual' solution kind of works but you'll never get full use of the machine you're using. and considering it's simply a reboot to do so is no big deal.

thanks for the info, only reason i would run the windows versions for now is because that's all i have. if i buy a new machine it might be a while to scrape up some cash for the mac versions.

You want cross-grading, then:

parallels was solid when i used it 9 months ago. haven't missed it since getting a new machine, but it was definitely worth the $$$ on our test machine.
