I'm having a huge problem with copy/paste frames in Flash CS5.
I'll grab the frames from an existing project, paste into a blank keyframe and it looks like nothing happened. However, if I click off the keyframe and then click back into the keyframe, the pasted frames are there. After that, everything (canvas and timeline) starts exhibiting preview errors. The only way to set it straight is to quit Flash and restart.
Anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a way to avoid this issue?
- I've had display errors, scrubbing the timeline helps sometimesPIZZA
- Thanks; I'll try that.melq
- Yes - I am working with some files I created in CS4 in CS5 and sometimes when I dive into a movie timeline to edit, all of a sudden Save and undo are greyed out and the screen does not refresh. not that it matters cuz I can't save or undo!
I believe that it has to do with corrupt castmembers, CS5 is very touchy about that - I close Flash and restart it to get back to "normal"
It;s too bad Flash is such a hunk of steaming shite, the possibilities are great, but the frustration is hugesvenghoulieil

No we need to get our fucking work done so we can leave then chill and get laid, piece of shit software like this isn't helping.
- airey0
i'm guessing you fucked something up. it works fine for me.
and tween wise, what version are you used to using. make sure you choose 'classic tween'.
out on a limb i'll stand and say 'fucking user error'.
- PIZZA0
It's COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSHIT.
Sums up exactly what is wrong with the Flash development team, it's like they wrote a checklist of features the timeline had to do and threw in some screenshots of After Effects (timeline done right) and then faxed the lot over to India and said "just make sure it's shipped by xx/xx/xx".The result is something that looks like it should work and technically works but when you try and use the it you discover it is genuinely fucking useless and hasn't actually been tested as a viable interface.
For example the Motion Editor is about a screen tall so you need to scroll loads, the scrollbars have been shrunk so are way too small to use so you have to use a mouse wheel but the problem is the mouse wheel also changes any value your cursor is over so you end up editing your animation if you do that so then you have to go and use the shitty 6 pixel wide scrollbar.

ok new document.
create a movie clip. select frame one. "create motion tween" adds 25 frames. umm how the fuck about NO?!
ok, the other method: insert keyframe at frame 10. move object. "create motion tween". it doesnt goddamn motherfucking move!!!!
FFFFF

UUUUU
UUUUU- you want a 'classic tween' no? this would have done the same thing in CS4kingsteven
- ckentish0
this just wouldn't happen in HTML5 lol
- Projectile0
Fuck sakes I can't even save as CS3 or even copy and paste into SC3!!!
Movie clips come out as weird pixelated graphics and even simple shapes are the wrong size!! FML
- think you can save as CS4 from CS5 then as CS3 from CS4. LOL Cheers AdobePIZZA
- ok I'll go buy CS4 too then. :(Projectile

Projectile, if you skipped through CS4, you should know that there was some changes to the way Flash creates tween on the timeline. The "old way" is now called "classic tween" if you select classic tween you will be more familiar. I'm not going over the whole explanation of the new motion tween, but you have to hold option key, or control key on the PC I think to be able to select frame, but there's no need to select frames since you use the playhead to control the motion.
- < this, looks like skipping cs4 is yr problemkingsteven
- CS4 really fucking sucked though apart from PS CS4PIZZA
- and After Effects because that has never suckedPIZZA
- Projectile0
AAAH jeez thanks, that works a treat! Airey even mentioned it earlier but it was just unavaliable for some reason. ok I can actually do some work now... nice one guv!!

I'm still debating if I should update to CS5.... I'm getting sick of Adobe and their sloppy way of running things. I missed the good old days of when their updates made sense, like the introduction of the paths and pen tool.
- if you use CS4 then yes it's better than that. If you use CS3 then it's worse.PIZZA
- +1 totally!akrokdesign
- airey0
wwaaahhh. i want more options and new features but everything to stay the same. also, i don't want to learn anything new yet have a brand new app with new features. i'm a fucking idiot. hi.
- "i'm a fucking idiot." - airey.
don't be so hard on your self.akrokdesign - We all want new features, but sometimes you get shitty ones.CyBrain
- "i'm a fucking idiot." - airey.
- airey0
any chance projectile, twokids and son are related? it's like these fucking idiots all share the same busted single brain cell.
- PIZZA0
airey it's more about sensible features, Photoshop gets a trunk load of 3D stuff and yet it still can't centre a layer in the middle of the canvas without workarounds

Hi,
I have Adobe flash cs5 and I can't undo or redo...
Does anyone know how to fix this? It's driving me nutts.
Thanks,
Brandon

CS5 seems to be much more chunky-time than CS4...
...it's like half a second not responding, then half a second working fine, then half a second not responding, but no spinning beach ball much of the time.....then, when you least expect it, everything is ok....
I probably should just close everything else and be less ADHD, maybe that's what Flash CS5 is trying to tell me..... and/or get a faster machine with a shit-ton of RAM... I'm running a quad-core with 4 gigs though(!)
- kingsteven0
Ah, "Preparing to Import" every time you drag a file across the IDE...
- Projectile0
yes, airey. We are related, in fact.
And we're not elitist cunts. It's nice in our happy family.
