Federal court slaps down Viacom's billion dollar copyright suit against YouTube.

The key part of this is affirming the idea of "safe harbor" into law.
Safe harbor basically says that if people post copyrighted material on your site, you aren't liable for damages, as long as you remove it after copyright owners discover it and ask you to take it down.

Won't matter though, will it? Content creators have tried this shit for over a decade. And today you can access illegal content, if you wanted to, more easily than ever before.
