I'm interested in switching from textmate to one of these, does anyone have any thoughts?
also, do they both read .tpl files?

TextMate even though waiting for version 2 is starting to look like waiting for Duke Nukem Forever

Coda has the workflow nailed, but textmate and I believe espresso are better text editors.
I use Coda for the live view. 2 panes open, one for code and other to render as I type.

I've got both but never really got into Espresso. I'm not sure I can articulate why, though. Coda has better support for code snippets as well as SVN support. They both support plugins but Coda also supports some/many TextMate bundles, which may appeal to you.
Personally I really like Coda but they're both quite good so you might be best served by using the trials for a couple weeks.

Espresso looks nice. Coda is ok. I have it. Right now I'm using something else.

I really like Coda, however I haven't tried the other two.
