The thing i've noticed about hipsters - is underneath all the styling they are incredibly boring and narrow minded.
You can see that when they are in their 40's or 50's they are going to look like really really boring people.
Cool people, don't need to be cool - they are. hipsters seem to be really dry boring people who overcompensate in order to stand out.

What blows me away is how brands fall all over themselves to market to hipsters.
The marketing types for both brands I work on every day - in their marketing document - have outright said they are targeting hipsters.
– Brand 1: 'Hipsters, 16-28 years old. Female primary, male secondary';
– Brand 2: 'Primarily female, secondarily male, 28-40, hipsters and post-hipsters who still identify authenticity as being important.'
Blargh.

The ironic, spur of the moment tattoos are the things I always wonder about what they'll think later in life. I mean, there are people that get tattoos because they want them, but there are also people who get tattoos is if it's some critical piece of uniform to their outward personality. I know some of you will say those are the exact same thing, but they're really not. With hipsters tattoos there's a lot of "what the fuck were you thinking?" because getting tattoos are just "cool" actions for them - like a fucking unicorn tattoo or some bird or ironic sentence or something.
I've got friends that will die one day loving the tattoos they always had, but I've got others who will look at them as solemn reminders of how they tried to ride the youth of their twenties on into their thirties, PBR in hand, clad in cutoff jean shorts and smelling like an old sack of scrotums.

the only baffling thing about hipsters to me is other people's reactions to them. hipsterdom is so mainstream now it's not anything. they look boring because they are boring. they look shabby and wear used clothing because their heyday is a recession. i don't think they even really exist anymore, they're just people now.
to me, people shouting "hipster" might as well be shouting "i'm so old and out of touch that i'm still harping on shit that's not even there anymore"

The most talented amazing people I've worked with most of the time look dead plain and are overly friendly. And the few tatooed up fashion whores that i actually know are pretty awesome too... so i guess there is no rule here, rather, why are you lot hanging out with annoying twats?
- I have no tattoos or piercings, I wear non-trendy clothes, I'm very friendly and fun and couldn't be cool if my life depended on it.mikotondria3
- Which it really does - being cool isn't living. Making a tit out of yourself and getting the craic going is.mikotondria3

I still like Bob Dylan, British and Italian motorcycles, regular old & normal fitted Levi's and occasionally wear Chucks, when not wearing used combat boots for motorcycle riding.
That other garb just seems too hard. and the "hard-to-achieve- fashion-of-the-day" vs. getting laid ratio, doesn't seem to matter much.
Do whatever seems to be working for you! (I just feel like I work a lot less and achieve the same results).

Hipsters for the most part try too hard.
