has stopped working in PS and AI. It appears that any combination of those 4 keys works except that one.
Unless I also hold down windows key - those 5 keys does the trick. - but i'd prefer not to have to relearn this shortcut.
anyone know what this is? I tried checking sticky keys, that wasn't the problem.

Might try resetting your shortcuts inside each program? I am not very confident that that is the problem, but could be an easy fix if so...

we call it "The Claw" here at the shop and it works on our platforms.. CS4 / XP&OSX

if you have one of those keyboards that has two windows keys - maybe one of the windows keys is stuck down?
nah that can't be it otherwise other things would be fucked up too.

Did the three of you open a shared greyscale image, and convert your working space to the document's?

Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S
Command+Option+Shift+S

Clear out all your preferences in your library, or at least your adobe preferences then repair permissions and restart.
That should fix it.
