17" too heavy for a portable, if you want to spend that sort of monay on a desktop buy an i7 iMac.

Have fun. My 1.5 yo MBP doesnt read discs anymore and the a key doesnt work on it. Quality stuff. Need to get it fixed. Yep ive never had a single problem with my 7 year old dell. Ive converted back to PCs.

- Who needs the A key really!orrinward
- It's your fault for not having it repaired under warranty, btw. No need to switch back to PCs for your error.monospaced
- Lol, yes I was the one that broke the CD drive and the A key.CygnusZero4
- You should have gotten it fixed then instead of bitching about it, no? They do have warranties!monospaced

I got a 15" i7 mbp. It rules. I also paid more and waited for the matte screen. No real heating issues and overall, feels like the best mac I have ever used. Maxed out with 8 gigs, 512 video ram, 7200 rpm drive and hi-def screen..all for less than 3K. It is a no brainer if you use a computer as much I do. CS5 works great too.

just saying if the i7 was more important then the brand and you wanted a i7 quad....
ASUS G73JH-A1 Core i7 720QM 1.60GHz Quad-Core 17.3in 1TB (2 x 500GB 7200) HDD 8GB PC3-10666 (DDR3-1333) 802.11b/g/n Blu-Ray Combo, Retail for $1700 over at zipzoomfly. think there is also a 15.6 with 1920 resolution for like $1279 with the i7 quadcore and 4 gigs of ram and such for like $1280.

That asus may be loaded, but for the love of god is it ugly: http://www.excaliberpc.com/59493…
Who the fuck designed that? I have to look at that thing 10 hours a day, i want it to be somewhat visually appealing, i'll spend the extra...
- fair enough. i wouldn't stick my dick in either.deathboy

And go i7 guys. The cost difference between to two spread across 2 years is like $10 a month. So worth it.
- no if it has overheating problems like the reviews are saying...i cannot afford to have it break down...effour
- yes i7 has more bang for the buck. but not now with heating issues and etc.pango
- I use it everyday and have not had this heat issue. I am regularly using AE, PS and FinalCut since I got it. I don't use it in my lap very much though..onekid

This "overheating problem", seems to me like every hit on the 1st page of Google search for "i7 macbook overheating" (that's the extent of everyone's research, right?) is based on the same initial report.
As always this "problem" is actually a case of "someone says that someone else said there is a problem". No, I'm not a fanboy, just someone capable of a little thought.
