Why jump *after* your shift ends?
- So their family still got paid for the day's work? I dunno.dMullins
- creepy...that might actually be trueWrappedInBooks

At night, the factory turns into "fight club"
- symeon0
I suppose to keep productivity steady "jumping" is only allowed after your shift ends

isn't it 9th now? Surely all you need is about coincidently 3 in a short space of time then every fucking mental joins in and you end up with an epidemic. Like that small Welsh (?) town that had loads of kids killing themselves a year or two ago.

man...there are some bad alternate realities happening in the world today. thing of things you complain about in your life?....
"and as many as a quarter of them were not taking at least one day off a week."
no wonder...and this is where all of our cool iPad iPhone stuff comes from.....
something wrong about all this, isnt there?
- lowimpakt0

Apple appear more sinister every day - I'm slowly losing my happy, free spirit, peace loving, think different attitude to them
- i_monk0
Cyberpunk, remember that?
- twokids0
symeon: That's the problem I have with Apple - users like you who assume they are more than just a technology company trying to make a profit. They make good products, but are not better than HP or Dell or anyone else....you may LIKE their products more....but they are not better.....just another company

foxconn employs more than 400.000 people and manufacture items for pretty much all the companies,
but in this case
"According to ND Daily, Sun Danyong, who had been handling a shipment of 16 iPhone prototypes, was set upon by Foxconn's Central Security Division after one of the prototypes went missing. Unable to take the "unbearable interrogation techniques," he jumped from a 12-story building on July 16.Foxconn has already issued a statement apologizing for the incident and admitting that ah section chief of the Central Security Division, surnamed Gu, may have used "inappropriate interrogation methods" such as searching Sun's house, holding Sun in solitary confinement and possibly beatings. Gu has been suspended without pay and the company is internally investigating the Central Security Division."

"Earlier this week, Foxconn said it was enlisting counsellors and Buddhist monks to provide emotional support for its workers."
Wow. Employing buddhist monks for emotional support of Chinese workers is huge. Especially with the Chinese governments general attitude towards buddhism.
- Ok, I'm a dummy. I assumed China and not Taiwan...IRNlun6

"Over 93% of Taiwanese are adherents of a combination of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism; 4.5% are adherents of Christianity, which includes Protestants, Catholics, Latter-day Saints and other, non-denominational"

With labour this cheap though, the prices on iPad's might start dropping like Foxconn employees!
Blame the lack of sleep for poorly articulated tasteless humour. This is worse than drunk QBNing..

Foxconn suicides: Time for fair trade electronics? Would you buy a fair trade iPhone?

problem solved.
"The latest death came hours after Hon Hai gave an unusual tour of its Longhua plant to a group of journalists and announced plans to outfit its buildings with safety nets to prevent further suicide plunges. The state-run Xinhua news agency said a 23-year-old man, surnamed He, jumped from the seventh floor of a workers' dormitory at the plant Wednesday night."

This is what economies are like when you don't have real labor unions and workers rights.
No 40 hour work week, no child labor laws, no right to organize.
Not much of a "People's Republic" is it?
