Nashville is cool (although a bit under water still). Oddly enough Knoxville has a few interactive firms who do lots of LA motion work. There's also an agency in Chattanooga who does great work. It's too late for me to remember or dig up names. I'll rethink tomorrow.

Asheville is beautiful but extremely limited in local business possibilities. It's a pretty small town, and rather parochial for having such a bohemian reputation.
Atlanta is the New York of the south. That's your best bet.
Henderson Bromstead is a decent firm in Winston-Salem NC.
I think there are also a couple good firms in Birmingham. But while it's a much bigger town than Asheville, it doesn't have much of a scene to speak of (then again—you could always be the one who starts a scene!).

I miss Atlanta. I don't know if that's any help. I'm thinking not.

Nashville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Charleston is what i'm really trying to seek out.
I have a few interviews coming up in NYC in a week, but i'm fearing NYC = too busy and no time on a boat
- if you are not busy in nyc you are out of bizerikjonsson
- or you have a cushy job
