This is so true,
"People remember faces, and have a harder time saying no to them. Every time you hand off your portfolio to someone else you lower your chance of getting something out of it. Go deliver it yourself. It has been scientifically proven that you get denied less if you talk to people in person."

Administrative people know everyone, they are the people at the gate, but they also can get in and go anywhere. Bribe them and get them to help you out. Ask them what they want in return for their help. Everyone can be bought.

or you could just do some cool work and they will say "please come work with us".

...and if you're not a trust fund kid with loads of money to spend of printing hundreds of portfolios, working for free and bribing people.
I found a sneaky way in.. Powerpoint. There's a massive demand for people with a designer's eye and Adobe skills but who are willing to convert indesign/whatever files into presentations without having to be spoonfed. Doing that got me loads of money, and into loads of the top agencies in London. Ogilvy, Saatchi, Interbrand, McCann Erickson, Wolf-Olins.. Got a bit typecast for a while but pulled out of it eventually
- That's great. We'll let you stick to doing the PPT stuff while the rest of us spare our sanity.d_rek
- that's smart, projectile. as much as i hate PP i've had to work with it at every job, since that's all most people know how to use.sputnik2
