We've all probably had this... but when you've worked on something for a while and you've lost excitement for the project, how do you keep going?
Right now I've got this project that I've done a few rounds of design for. Now I have to go back and work on it some more and I can't get into it. Bah!

I hate when that happens...

i DO want to do a nice job on this project. I'm not being lazy. I am just totally over it.

I have various projects like this; the long and short of it is you need to balance your time in order to accommodate projects you don't give two shits about with personal work and projects you still adore...
It's as simple as that...
2 hours of hate...
2 hours of love...
repeat until complete...

adrian,
totally feel you. We have a couple of accounts here on retainer that any magic they once held was completely lost long ago. I stopped looking at them for work that is going to "really blow anyone away!" and just tried to approach each task for projects from those accounts as ways to hone a certain skill, whether it be typography, illustration, photo manipulation... if you look hard enough you can find something good even in the seemingly mundane and boring.
- good advice d-rek; like it's training and a way to get your foot in the door on other similar things for better clients...ideaist

d_rek - good call.
There MIGHT be something I could possibly dig some positivity out of. Just seems like there's no redeeming qualities in the project. It's just become this burden taking me away from better more important things.

adrian,
You can't look at it that way. Yeah, sure there might be something else you're DYING to work on or have a better idea/feel more inspired for something else but you have to consider that kind of work pays the bills. If nothing else you can at least consider the fact that that particular client is keeping you fed, clothed, etc.
Believe me, it's all a give and take. You'll find a groove for those especially boring projects.

Leave it for the last minute.

Burn through as quick as possible so you get paid and put it behind you if it has nothing more to offer.
