i have been denied insurance 8 times, and i am as healthy as you could want...
i have a suspicion that i am on some kind of "health insurance black list" because i might of had a cold or something when i was 12.if you really want coverage, don't rule out moving to a country with a system that is not as f-d up as ours.

I couldn't get insured here in the states for the last 6+ years due to a pre-existing issue...
... so - I think I just took a job so I can get me some of them 'benefits'... sucks - but what choice do I have given our current setup.
Our country's health care kicks ass - you just gotta find a way to afford it - especially if you're already sick. :(
- probably need more people with less insurance. increase competition. insurance companies pay incredibly huge amounts subsidized by healthy people robbing us alldeathboy
- amounts subsidized by non sickers. amounts that normies cant compete with, generally speakign lot fo other laws and rules too..deathboy
- shit to. but hey im my own enemy. my work covers msot insurance so i pay 50 bucks a month(company a lot more) and i never use the damn thing.deathboy
- and i never use it. just subsidizing larger payouts for larger premiums. i hate being a hypocrite but its super cheap incase emergency in the fucked up marketdeathboy
- in case of emergency in this fucked up marketdeathboy
- oh and 50 bucks to me helps me not think about the costthe employer ahs to pay, which i would so much rather have in paycheck form so i can save in emergenciesdeathboy
- paycheck form for savings and such incase something does happen.deathboy

I have Aetna coverage (I'm here in eastern PA). When I was single I was paying $180 per month for Medical and Dental HMO (It was a decent plan). Now that I'm married and with a kid, I'm paying a whopping $1200 a month for a family plan PPO. Craziness.
- It would be the same if I had 2 or 10 kids though.fyoucher1
- Holy shit thats a lot.CygnusZero4

When I was forced into freelance Cobra was going to cost about $400, being on my wives plan was going to cost even more. I ended up getting major medical for less than half of that from Providence Health Care but I thing they only serve the west coast.

Assurant Health as some high deductible, lower premium plans. Depends on what your needs are.

If you find someone who will insure you regardless of pre-existing conditions... let me know...
... I haven't had insurance in about 5 years now - cuz nobody will back my sorry 'pre-existing' ass

hmmm....
anyone here have experience for what happens when you actually have to go to the doctor or hospital for anything non-trivial?
I've had various $200-$400 plans for a while, but I've been rather scared to actually use them, as I'd be branded a pre-existing condition if anything was actually found....
I had heart surgery as a kid.... yes, something fixed in the 70's is considered a pre-existing condition sometimes...
