Looking for some informed opinions here....
Say you have a paragraph of text on a web page and the last word in the paragraph is a link.
The link is indicated by a color different from the rest of the paragraph.
Here's the question: Should the period following the link be rendered in the link color or the paragraph color? In print, I'd say yes but not sure what the rules are for web.
I looked here (http://webtypography.net/) but this topic isn't mentioned.

i'd say yes. otherwise the period being in a diff. color than the link looks disconcerting and unnecessarily attention-grabbing.
wait, you have hyperlinks in print?

color of link

Have you considered using bold and/or underline, instead of a different colour?

color of paragraph!

the period has nothing to do with the link. would you also color a comma the same color as the link????
- Agreed.Continuity
- Good point. I would if this was a print project. Of course the color wouldn't be indicating a link in this case, just a design element.sisu

Semantically, you are creating an association between a word or phrase, and a document.
The association is being made with the word.
Therefore, only include the period if it's part of the word.
- true, but then it's visually disruptive, i feel.bigtrickagain

If the style of the link was an underline instead of color change, would you apply the underline to the period...?
- Nope.Continuity
- hell to the no.iCanHasQBN
- Totally agree. Just trying to make the point.sisu

if you find it so disrupting, can't you change the phrase instead, so it doesn´t end with a link?

nobody in the world will care but you. Just act like a snobby typographer and do what you want, have a reason, and keep it consistent.
