what about a more simple setup like this?
http://www.ilovedust.com/
type of film up top, nav.
rows of screenshots.

Yes, the original site is nice but some of you are missing the point... People don't think "I need to hire a director or "I need to hire a DP" but rather "i need a DP for a reality show about food"or "I need a director/DP for a hip hop music video" Thus if it was the second person my current site would be fine as 4 out of 5 projects listed are music videos but what if it was the first person...? Then that person right away would close the site and move on as my reality shit is buried deep down.

I agree with a lot of the feedback that has been given and totally agree with you about bubbling up some buried work. Considering that your work speaks volumes about what you do, I would be very minimal in your design approach and let it do just that. I think that a simple filter/navigation system up top might do the trick w/ a clean grid based presentation of the work below.

stay with the old one, or give it to me

current site looks way better... for your type of work, it's best to keep it simple, and a simple scrolling page is better than the alternative.

Whoa.
Why not try a system like Indexhibit or 4ormat? Something that would be easy to set up for yourself and update when you need to.....

looks like utter shit
try,

All you need is a filter and the old site will work a treat...

You could pay someone to design a site for you. I like you work, shame about the site.

feel free to categorise... just not like that. Keep the design, it's just fine (ok maybe the chalk arrows at the top can go) and above all those videos, have a nav that will then take you to an ads-only or music-only page.

If I was someone who wanted to just see your work to possibly hire you, the first site is far better. I can see your work and who you are much faster.
New site is irritating.....why a million links that just take you to a page with more links? It is not obvious at all what is going on

I think less is more here. Your skillset is varied but that does not mean you need to break everything down into categories. The first site is much more effective because it takes us directly into your work.
Perhaps as a sub-heading, much like i've seen before, you can put together some key-words that describe what you've done for the project. ie: Project Title - Art Direction, Photography, Branding
I think in this case it may be useful for you to use a CMS that allows you to TAG your entries - this way potential clients can filter your work based on the expertise they are looking for

Listening to all you said, taking in some things and rejecting some other, here is the new site:
and OLD site (for comparison):

Nice idea, but still need some imagery. How about creating a section of "selected works" quick access.
Overall, pretty cool.
Congratulations!

the above nav/contact thing and the surround gradients/imagery does nothing to 'activate' or draw interest in your work. All it does is add another confusing level of communication to your site. The heirarchy, typography, use of shapes/color all takes away from what is an otherwise strong portfolio.
- bigtrickagain0
uh... did you really...?
i'm sorry, but it looks awful. your video work is pro-level but your website has inexplicable blocky microsoft-paint style graphics - it looks, at best, childish ): i think you're doing yourself a serious disservice here. as people have said, why not go with c-argo, core or indexhibit and look more professional?
- d_rek0
Bigtrick is spot on. It's bad. It does nothing to showcase your talent or ability. Here is a half-hearted solution i put together in 5 seconds.
People don't want to look at your crappy my-5-yr-old-nephew-designed-my-w... website. They want to see the amazing, professional directorial and pictoral expertise you offer.
