Off line a little, I had a G10 and now have the S90. S90 is amazing. G10 was just good. G11 is a big version of the S90. Pics on my flickr

sony TZ5 is good too, fewer options though, except diving!

- APS film always sucked, supposed to make it easier to use a camera for the family - just made it more expensive to develop.imnotaplumber

I have a G9 and I am still happy with it. Some reviews, at the time, said it was better than the G10. I am noticing a trend.
Honestly, I have an old G3 that is still alright. Unless there is a specific feature the G11 offers, don't worry about the latest model.
If you can get a G10 on discount, probably worth saving some cash.

At this stage, virtually every camera has enough megapixels to work with. The issue now is chip size and type and what quality the image recorded is. MP size and quality are not directly related.

However, if more than marketing hype, these features do bode well for the G11 -- if you shoot low-light much with just a point and shoot:
"..G11 to deliver better coverage from low light shadow details to highlights with minimized blow out..."
"...improved the signal-to-noise ratio by around two stops when compared to the G10 camera..."

i've heard the s90 beats the g11 at least. not used one though. i have a g9 and am having issues with the sensor. faint purple band at the top of photos when shooting in raw for some reason.

I love my G11, by reducing the mega pixels to 10.0 on the G11 it means low-light images with a lot less noise.

G10 was a mistake - more or less revealed by the quicker than normal release of the G11. I still have a G9 (cannot be the built in timelapse functionality and it is built like a tank) and a LX3. Might consider going back to the P&S world of Canon if the S90 holds up. In the interim, a LX3 for the "light" work and a 5D Mk.II for the "heavy" suits me quick fine. i was playing with a G11 the other day, what i really liked was the knobs. i didn't have to go digging though menus to get what i needed.
